Return to Sport Update (27th July)

The Victorian Government, on advice from the Department of Health, has lifted Victoria’s state-wide lockdown as of Tuesday 27 July at 11.59pm.       


The following Return to Sport information affects both Greater Melbourne and Regional Victoria with all information applying state-wide.

In line with Victorian Government health directives, associations in Victoria will be able to operate at a capacity level suitable for their stadiums, up to the ORANGE-50 REACTIVATION LEVEL within Basketball Victoria’s Return to Sport Guidelines. At this level, basketball will be able to recommence under these restrictions (for the next two weeks):    

  • 1 person per 4sqm of the of the venue   
  • 1 parent or guardian per 18-and-under participant subject to density limits of individual stadiums to be known as “useable space”  
  • COVID Check-In Marshal to be present at all venues to assist with checking in all patrons   
  • Ensure you have signage up in all areas specifying the maximum permitted patrons in each useable space* (signage template provided by Basketball Victoria).   


Masks are not required while on court during games for players and referees participating in an exertive role, however, must be worn while not playing and on entry and exit of stadium. Coaches and all other patrons over 12 years of age – must wear a mask at all times while indoors unless medically exempt
